  3. FOR WORDPERFECT 6.0 FOR DOS

  8. OREM, Utah ─ May 11, 1993 ─ WordPerfect Corporation today
  9. announced that WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS will be released June 28,
  10. 1993.  The upgrade, which was announced in March, will ship as
  11. scheduled and will contain additional functionality not found in
  12. earlier beta versions of the product.
  13.      Company officials and resellers alike say customer demand
  14. for the product is already reaching record levels. "We have huge
  15. back orders for WordPerfect 6.0 and expect nothing less than a
  16. huge and successful release of the product," said Linda Kroog,
  17. vice president of products at California-based Merisel Inc. 
  18.      Some of the additional features which have been added to the
  19. latest beta version of the product include drag-and-drop text,
  20. scrolling Button Bars, and separate setup options for the Text
  21. Mode and Graphics mode. A CD-ROM version of the upgrade will also
  22. be available following the initial release of the product.  
  23.      According to WordPerfect developers, 639 user enhancement
  24. requests have been incorporated into WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS.
  25. Some previously announced features include built-in spreadsheet
  26. functionality; WYSIWYG editing; fax, sound and e-mail
  27. capabilities; WordPerfect Coaches; scalable font support;
  28. selectable merge; drag-and-drop graphics; contour text wrap
  29. around graphics; color printing; undo; QuickFinder; the ability
  30. to have nine documents open at a time; enhanced envelope and
  31. label creation; and more powerful macro capabilities.
  32.      Customers who purchase earlier versions of WordPerfect for
  33. DOS during the 30 days before or after version 6.0 is released
  34. can upgrade for free. Customers who meet the free upgrade
  35. guidelines will have 60 days after the product is released to
  36. take advantage of the free upgrade window.
  37.      WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS will have a suggested retail price
  38. of $495 for a full package. Full package upgrades for existing
  39. WordPerfect customers will have a suggested retail price of $129.
  40. A competitive trade-up package will also be available for $149 to
  41. customers who own a competing word processing package.
